Hitoshi Morimoto is a ceramic artist born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture. He was raised by his father, a Bizen potter, and after studying sculpture at university, he studied traditional Mino ware under Seiya Toyoba. He fired a kiln for traditional Bizen ware about once a year in his studio, which is located in a bountiful landscape. While creating traditional Bizen ware, he also creates his original "Shirahana" series of works, in which the same Bizen clay is fired white in a kerosene kiln. He has been living with dogs for a long time in his life. His works are attractive because of their modern, relaxed form, and the kind of tenderness he feels for animals.
